People always ask, “What made Wes want to start a cupcake stand?” A self-proclaimed entrepreneur since birth, Wes Hurt naturally wanted to own a business, but not just any business, something new, something a little off the wall. The inspiration came from a trip to New York and a random visit to the famous Magnolia Bakery. After arriving back in Austin, Wes bought an old beat up snow cone stand, renovated it, and the rest is history. In March 2007, Hey Cupcake! opened for business. Wes has since hired two talented bakers, but he still likes to get down & dirty in the kitchen from time to time.
